Update - 1st October 2011

"On a Cushion of Air"

Hoverlloyd Memorial

Model of the proposed Memorial
After such optimistic and positive news in May this year unfortunately it has been all downhill from there.

Although not ruled out, we now find that the application process to obtain the £2,000 promised by John Kirby will be a lot slower than we anticipated. It is likely it would not be available, if all goes according to plan, until well into 2012. Definitely not in time for the memorial to be erected by May 25th.

Another blow to funding is the loss of the £5000 Vattenfall had promised as part of their £100,000 gift to the Cliffsend community. Due to overspending on other projects this is no longer available to us.

Thus a loss of £7,000 of originally assured funding leaves us with little choice but to postpone the memorial until we can secure such a large sum elsewhere.

We are not giving up hope, but we certainly have to adjust the timeframe.
After the sad news above, we are glad to say this project is going well. Since our last we have commissioned and agreed the book title and the cover format, which we are particularly pleased with.

Our original target for first draft completion has slipped back a couple of months to the end of this year, but that still gives us plenty of time for Writersworld to do a final edit and print before our eventual target date of May 25th.

One of the reasons for the extension of deadline is the amount of new material Robin has accumulated with more than a dozen interviews over the past few months. New information, which spans the whole hovering industry, has brought new insights to our collective history, and in many cases has caused us to rewrite our previous misconceptions.

Added to all this, we both have to add the inevitable family dramas to our schedules which, as per usual, come along with unforseen regularity. Nevertheless, we will get there.
